Online Therapy in Ontario

Individual Psychotherapy

Juniper offers individual therapy for adults (18+) living in Ontario.

Therapy can create space for confidence, clarity, self-worth, and genuine fulfillment. Our team members are registered social workers who have clinical training in treating common mental health concerns (such as low mood or anxiety).

We specialize in supporting people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s navigating everything life tends to throw at us: romantic relationships, identity, friendships, career, pregnancy and parenting, seeking purpose and fulfillment.

Our team specializes in an anti-oppressive, feminist approach to therapy and mental health care.

Psychotherapy Sessions: $200 per 50 minute session with a Registered Social Worker

LET’S GET STARTED!

1. Choose Change

The first step is you listening to that little whisper - or loud scream - saying, “I want to feel better.” You don’t have to know how, or even believe that it’s possible. We’ll help with that. Choose change, and choose Juniper.

2. Free Consultation

Therapy is personal, so finding the right fit is really important. In a consultation, the therapist shares information about their practice and will ask for a brief snapshot of what’s bringing you to therapy now. We are happy to answer any questions, too!

3. Get Started

Once you’re matched, you can get started!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Great question! It’s normal to feel curious and nervous about starting therapy. Check out our blog post, Step-by-Step: A Guide to Your First Therapy Session, for a helpful guide on what to expect.

We address common questions like, “What if I don’t know what to say?” and “Are my problems even ‘important’ enough for therapy?”.

  • The fee is $200 per 50 minute session.

  • All of our therapists are registered social workers with a Master of Social Work degree. Check your policy to see if you have coverage for “social work” or services by a “registered social worker”.

  • We offer direct billing for many insurance companies, including:

    • Canada Life

    • Manulife

    • Green Shield

    • Desjardins

    • Equitable Life

    • ClaimSecure

  • Great question. Virtual therapy is a great fit for people who want to save time on commuting or are juggling work, childcare, and other commitments. However, it isn’t a great fit for everyone.

Please note that we do not offer intensive psychiatric services or crisis services. Our therapists are available during your session time, but are not available outside of that time. If you need more flexible support, then another service would be a better fit for you.

During your free consultation, our Client Care Coordinator will let you know if our services and team are the right fit for you.

  • At Juniper, we use a Canadian telehealth platform (JaneApp.com) designed for virtual health services, including psychotherapy. No electronic platform can guarantee complete security, but telehealth platforms meet the highest standards of encryption and privacy. All of the Jane servers are located in Canada. You can strengthen the confidentiality of your session by using headphones, choosing a secure and private location, and scheduling sessions when you are alone and uninterrupted.

  • We created the following tips for clients on how to prepare for a session:

    • Schedule free time after your session. Counselling can bring up a lot of emotions, sometimes in unexpected ways. I don't recommend scheduling a session in between work-from-home Zoom calls, without a break.

    • Choose a space in your home where you feel comfortable and have privacy to speak openly.

    • Gather any items you may wish to have on hand (water, tea, tissues).

    • Plug in your laptop. Put your phone away and on silent.

    • Use headphones with a microphone. This makes the sound quality much better and helps protect the confidentiality of your session.
