Associate Therapist Position Description

Juniper Wellness provides online-only social work services and psychotherapy to clients residing in Ontario. We specialize in women in their mid-20s to mid-40s with common life challenges related to career, relationships, family, self-esteem, sense of identity or meaning, and more. Additionally, we support clients experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues suitable for virtual services.

  • Juniper makes private practice easy. We provide the following, so you can focus on therapy:

    • Referrals for your ideal client. Tell us who you love to work with, and we’ll fill your schedule!

  • Practice management by our dedicated Juniper administrative assistant, including:

    • Scheduling sessions

    • Client emails

    • Billing, invoicing, late payments, cancellation fees

    • Direct billing to select insurance companies

  • Electronic records management system & virtual therapy platform (Jane App)

  • Peer case consultations

  • Monthly team meetings for support, connection, camaraderie

  • Opportunity to grow with Juniper as we expand

Compensation

Juniper operates on a fee-split model. Associate therapists are independent contractors, not employees. Associate therapists are compensated a percentage of the client fee and invoice our clinic for services rendered. 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience providing ongoing or long-term psychotherapy to adults – beyond single-session or drop-in service models. You are an experienced clinician who is skilled at assessment, developing a collaborative case conceptualization with a client, identifying counselling goals, and working toward these goals in a long-term psychotherapy model.

  • Experience in private practice. You are comfortable working alone and exercising excellent clinical judgement related to safety, risk, or ethics on your own.

  • Post-graduate training and work experience in one or more of the following modalities:

    • Emotion-focused therapy

    • Acceptance and commitment therapy

    • Narrative therapy

    • Dialectical behaviour therapy

    • EMDR and/or other somatic modalities

  • Willing to work collaboratively on marketing your practice.

  • Shared values and practice philosophy related to: anti-racism, intersectional feminism, trauma-informed care, anti-oppressive practice, LGBTQ2S+ inclusion.

Additional Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution

  • Member in good standing with the OCSWSSW

  • Hold an active insurance policy (professional liability and commercial liability) as a registered social worker in private practice

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Reliable access to a private, quiet space with strong internet and good lighting

  • Confidence with essential computer skills (typing; troubleshooting wireless, audio, or video connections; ability to learn to use Jane App, Gmail, Google Calendar)
